Melanie Lynskey: Making her bigscreen
debut at sixteen beside a then-unknown Kate Winslet, New Zealand native Lynskey
wowed critics and audiences with her explosive turn as a 1950s teenager who
conspires with her best friend to carry out a scandalous crime, in Peter
Jackson's award-winning Heavenly Creatures (1994).
Despite a three-year hiatus spent completing school and relocating to the States, Lynskey made a welcome return to acting when she appeared as Anjelica Huston's daughter - and one of Drew Barrymore's stepsisters - in the acclaimed Ever After (1998), an epic retelling of the Cinderella story.
She has since amassed an impressive body of film work, which includes notable roles in Detroit Rock City (1999), But I'm a Cheerleader (1999), The Cherry Orchard (1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Snakeskin (2001), Abandon (2002), Sweet Home Alabama (2002), Shattered Glass (2003), Park (2006) and Clint Eastwood's Oscar-nominated Flags of Our Fathers (2006).
In addition, Lynskey - who resides in Los Angeles - has worked frequently on the smallscreen; her credits include Stephen King's "Rose Red" (2002) (mini) and "The Shield" (2002), as well as a recurring stint opposite Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men" (2003), a principal role in "Drive" (2007) and a forthcoming appearance in "Comanche Moon" (2008) (mini).
